Project overview

The City of London, the Square Mile, is the financial district of London. It is home to 8,600 residents, 678,000 workers and millions of visitors within just 1.12 square miles. Almost all residents live in purpose-built flats, managed either by the Corporation or private landlords.

The City’s recycling promotional materials had been produced at different times, lacked consistency and were no longer up to date. This created confusion around what could be recycled and how to use the available services. We worked with the City of London to review, rebrand and redesign all household recycling communications to provide clear, consistent guidance for residents.

Project aim

To create a unified set of brand guidelines using Recycle Now assets alongside the City of London’s visual identity, and to update all household recycling promotional materials for printing and distribution.

Our role

  • Review all existing recycling materials and updating them with clear, revised copy

  • Developing new content to fill in information gaps in resident information

  • Creating brand guidelines to align recycling communications with both Recycle Now and the City of London branding

  • Designing a full suite of refreshed promotional materials

  • Printing leaflets and posters for distribution

  • Applying the new branding to the City of London’s Waste Strategy
